Dave Doeren isn’t planning changes to NC State’s scheme on offense

NC State offensive coordinator Eli Drinkwitz is the new head coach at Appalachian State, which naturally leads to questions about the Wolfpack’s direction on offense moving forward. Head coach Dave Doeren released a statement Thursday morning congratulating Drink on the new gig while also making clear that he isn’t planning on shaking up the offense:

Doeren’s philosophy on that side of the ball is well-established by now, so it would have been surprising if he’d said anything else here. And that last paragraph is as much for recruits as it is for anybody else, too. We are less than a week away from the beginning of the early signing period, and kids will be looking for assurances any time there is an assistant coaching change that might affect them.

Doeren is saying plainly that the offense they sold to high school recruits is still going to be there after Drinkwitz’s departure. He’s not just blowing smoke—like I said, Doeren has an established way of scheming the offense and that’s not about to get overhauled, especially not when it’s working well.
