Since coming to NC State from App State in 2015, Dwayne Ledford has done nothing but improve his reputation within the college football coaching ranks. Not surprisingly, his former school has taken notice and will consider him for its now-vacant head coaching job, per ESPN’s Andy Rittenberg and 247Sports’ ASU site.
Ledford was promoted to associate head coach by Dave Doeren prior to the start of the 2018 season. He’s been widely recognized for his efforts in helping several Wolfpack linemen earn all-conference honors, and his lines have helped produce three straight 1,000 yard rushers. The line’s pass protection of the last two seasons also has been outstanding.
So it’s no wonder he would be considered a rising star, and given his history at App, his candidacy makes perfect sense. And the next head coach at App will be walking into a great situation that’ll allow him to be successful right away. That’d be tough to pass up.
