Wide receiver Stephen Louis will wear the No. 1 jersey for NC State in 2018

This is an honor given to one of the Wolfpack’s veteran leaders.

NCAA Football: Syracuse at North Carolina State Rob Kinnan-USA TODAY Sports

Steph Louis is next in line to don the No. 1 jersey, which is an honor Dave Doeren hands out annually to one of the program’s veterans. Jaylen Samuels wore the No. 1 the past two seasons, but as we are now currently JaySam-less (great now I’m crying again), it’s Louis’ turn.

Louis has been a big-play receiver for the Wolfpack over the past two seasons and could be primed for a big final season, especially since Kelvin Harmon will be earning a whole lot of attention from opposing secondaries this fall.

Little-known fact: NC State is such a forward-looking program, it actually held the torch-passing ceremony between JaySam and Louis way back in 2016. If you do not recall this ceremony, here is video of the proceedings:

There wasn’t a dry eye among those in attendance that day, let me tell you. Go do some more big things, Steph Louis. Just like that big thing there.
