NC State defensive lineman Kentavius Street appears likely to miss his rookie NFL season after reportedly tearing an ACL in a private workout with the New York Giants. Street was (and hopefully still is) a likely later-round pick but had earned a lot of interest because of his freakish athletic talents.
I hope that those talents will still convince a team to use a draft pick on him when the time comes, but no doubt that this injury is a significant setback. Street also dealt with a minor injury this spring that limited him at the NFL Combine, so luck has not been on his side.
He was a durable player in college, though, which should work in his favor, and with a full recovery from this injury, he’ll get his shot somewhere. He’ll probably have to wait until 2019 to prove himself since these types of knee injuries can take upwards of nine months to heal.
