ACC announces game times for four NC State home games

Early-season nooners are the price of progress.

Today the ACC announced game times for the first three weeks of the league’s college football schedule and its Thursday night games and, well, get your sunscreen ready! NC State’s first two home games will be nooners, and it is gonna be sweaty.

Sept. 1 vs. James Madison — Noon ET kickoff (ESPNU)
Sept. 8 vs. Georgia State — 12:30 p.m. ET kickoff (RSN)
Sept. 15 vs. West Virginia — 3:30 p.m. ET (ABC/ESPN/ESPN2/ESPNU)
Nov. 8 vs. Wake Forest — 7:30 p.m. ET (ESPN)

No doubt this will elicit groans from season ticket holders, and understandably so, because early-afternoon games in September in North Carolina are usually not super pleasant. But this is also the price of progress, y’all: all of these games are on an actual television channel, not ESPN3, which is a good thing for the program’s exposure. (Not so good for your skin’s exposure.)

I’ll miss the 6 p.m. kickoffs for non-conference games, when television wasn’t a consideration. Those were the best kickoff times. Okay see I talked myself into the changes and now I’m talking myself out of them. Maybe it’ll be a mild September. One can hope.
