NC State great Torry Holt on 2019 College Football Hall of Fame ballot

Why’d this take so long?

NFL: International Series-NFL UK Live Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

Former NC State All-American wide receiver Torry Holt is one of 76 FBS players to make the cut for the 2019 College Football Hall of Fame ballot. I’m not sure why it took this long, but then again they do have approximately eight zillion guys to consider every year.

The 2019 Hall of Fame class will be announced in January and the players will be inducted in Dec. 2019. Holt, one would think, will be an easy choice, if only based on his senior season alone. He finished 1998 with over 1,600 yards receiving, was almost NC State’s entire offense during its upset over Florida State, and had multiple 200+ receiving yard games.

He was also the only receiver in the history of the sport to make the bubble/tunnel screen work more than half the time.

And he got snubbed in the Biletnikoff Award voting that year. I figure college football owes him one for that. Actually it owes him several for that, but we’ll start here.
