NC State announced on Friday its new look for the 2018 football season. It’s a distinctive look, in line with the change to going with Tuffy as the primary helmet logo. From the perspective that these uniforms will clearly differentiate NC State from other schools, it’s a win, no question. But these will be polarizing.
New Look.

It’s fine if you don’t like them, but just remember that they aren’t doing these things for you: they are doing these things for ‘crootin. Always be ‘crootin.

The big change on the jerseys are the stripes around the collar. They have not been updated with the athletics department’s new font yet—the basketball jerseys will be—but that will come in 2019. Also of note here: the black uniforms figure prominently in the video, and you can definitely expect to see those at some point. (Thursday night game again, maybe?)

The other big change is the pants, as you can see—gone is the stripe down the side, replaced by “WOLFPACK” in bold lettering on the one half, with Tuffy near the hip on the other.
Overall, I think these are a little too Louisville for my tastes, but this is a step in the right direction. No one will be confused about which team they’re watching on television this fall, which is half the battle.
