NC State an early 2-point favorite over West Virginia

Sure, why not.

I haven’t felt great about NC State’s start to 2018 but maybe I’m being too pessimistic—the oddsmakers in Vegas apparently think so. The Wolfpack opened in some places as a field goal favorite to beat West Virginia in Raleigh next weekend, though that line has been moving in the WVU direction. It’s currently NCSU -2.

That is a little unexpected given the Mountaineers’ decisive win over Tennessee in Week 1, which is easily the best result by either team at this early point in the season. Will Grier has looked every bit the part of a Heisman candidate and the ‘Eers are averaging over 46 points per game.

But there is also the x-factor otherwise known as Hurricane Florence—if that storm stays on its current track, it will definitely have an impact on the game next week, assuming that the game is played at all. A hurricane played right into NC State’s hands against Notre Dame a couple years back, and maybe that could happen again?
