Ex-Southern Cal linebacker Levi Jones, who was dismissed from the Trojans program last season, is now on the NC State football roster. Jones was booted from the USC program in November after being suspended for an undisclosed violation of team rules. He was also arrested last summer for public intoxication. (Whoops!)
This is one of those situations where you just have to trust the coaching staff—I’m sure they did their due diligence, and if they were comfortable with giving Jones a second chance, that’s good enough for me.
Jones was a consensus four-star linebacker prospect out of high school and a top-100 player in the class of 2017. He was also considering Florida State and Florida before signing with the Trojans. He played in 10 games for USC as a true freshman and saw action in eight contests last season before his suspension, finishing 2018 with 13 tackles.
I am guessing he’ll take a redshirt year, since he still has the option. He’d have to wait until November of this year before he became eligible to play, anyway.
