Week 8 Football: What to watch

Just let me go ahead and say that this week is a flat out great set of games. True, we may not have the Florida-LSU or Oklahoma-Texas big ‘uns this week, but top to bottom, this is a better lineup. So please, enjoy responsibly... that is, binge the hell out of it.

Wednesday is really a game for us college football junkies. So thanks to the Fun Belt for feeding our unhealthy addiction.

The UCLA @ Stanford game will get the headlines on Thursday night, but that Louisiana-Lafayette @ Arkansas State game will probably be more entertaining. If you have to choose between one of them, that’s the one I’m going for.

Friday features an ACC game with Pitt @ Syracuse. The Marshall @ FAU game will be better, for what it’s worth. Also, I don’t know why, but this Northwestern game just seems like a potential bed-shitter for Ohio State. Upset alert! I’m calling it! (I’ll probably be way wrong.)

Saturday... hoo boy! Go do whatever you gotta do in the morning because you won’t be voluntarily leaving that couch until the wee hours of Sunday show up as you’re mainlining the football dichotomy that is the Air Force triple-option versus the Hawaii huck-it-chuck-it.

We all know what we’ll be watching at noon, but that mid-day slate has some really good ones, including Oregon @ Washington, Temple @ SMU, and Baylor @ OK State... alright, and Duke @ Virginia, too. The primetime Saturday slot has Michigan @ Penn State, Tulane @ Memphis, and Florida State @ Wake Forest.

This feels like the first weekend all year where all ACC teams are playing and there’s no games versus FCS opponents. I’m too lazy to actually validate that, so let’s just take it as true and move on for now.
