An unsteady quarterback situation could always cycle guys around and around, but it’s possible we’ve seen the last of Matthew McKay under center this season. Bailey Hockman will start against Syracuse on Thursday, and Devin Leary is listed as his backup on the depth chart.

Hockman played the majority of the Wolfpack’s game at Florida State after McKay got the hook for ineffectiveness. And now it looks like the coaching staff is moving on completely from McKay, which is understandable. (Though it would still be a good idea to use McKay in goal-to-go situations since designed runs for him in that part of the field have been effective.)

Dave Doeren suggested on Monday that Leary could get some reps this week—maybe that means a similar plan to the one they had for Hockman against Ball State. Who knows! All we can say for sure is that the offense is going to start fresh with a different QB this week. Here’s hoping that leads to a boost in the scoring department.
