Holy MACtion, Batman! That rust belt conference we love so dear is back at it again with five total games Tuesday thru Thursday.
If you missed Tuesday night, here’s a quick recap: The EMU @ Akron game featured two of the worst teams in all of FBS, with Akron proving they may actually be the single worst team in FBS, getting blown out 42-14. This is where the Sagarin ratings can be most useful, splitting out the really bad from the super bad.
I hope you did watch the Western Michigan OT win over Ohio, though. That WMU team can be fun to watch.
Wednesday has two more games featuring ho-hum MAC teams, but football’s football, man. Thursday has yet more MACtion, but we also get an ACC match-up as North Carolina heads north to take on their SP+ neighbor Pittsburgh. Pittsburgh is gunning to have both the best defense and worst offense in all of FBS, so stay tuned!
Friday has a pair of should-be great games, which is a nice way to lead into Saturday.
The early games are pretty awful. Indiana is going to get straight-up murdered by Penn State and Michigan State @ Michigan is good only in name alone. But that mid-day slate of games... hoo boy!
Navy @ Notre Dame, WFU @ Clemson, UGA @ Aubrun, Texas @ Iowa State, Minnesota @ Iowa. Heck, even Wyoming @ Utah State should be fun! Man, that’s some good football watchin’ right there! OOC foe Ball State also plays in the mid-day time slot and looks to stay alive in the MAC West division race.
The only night game you’re actually going to want to watch (aside from our beloved Wolfpack) is that Oklahoma @ Baylor game. The rest will provide your fix and some entertaining football, but not much by way of high quality play on the field.
Basketball, please save us...
