In a move that shouldn’t really shock anyone, an announcement was made today that Tony Gibson has been promoted to the role of Defensive Coordinator and Linebackers coach for the Wolfpack.
Congrats to @CoachTonyGibson !

A quote from Dave Doeren, via the above linked GoPack article:
“I look forward to building our defense with Tony Gibson as the leader,” said Doeren. “He has a strong vision for what we need to do on defense and his knowledge of our personnel and recruits will help us design the structure of our defense around our talent.”
As outlined in our POAPS Defensive Coordinator article, Gibson was the most logical (or at least most likely) move here. He’s already on staff and under contract for the 2020 season, plus he has several years of experience as a defensive coordinator at a Power 5 program (West Virginia) with some successful results.
The promotion from within the staff means there’s now an opening on the football staff for a Safeties coach.
