East Carolina linebacker Delvontae Harris and cornerback Juan Powell were arrested in Greenville on early Saturday morning and have been suspended indefinitely by head coach Mike Houston. Both have been charged with breaking and entering a motor vehicle, which is a felony.
That, uh, that is probably not the best way to ring in game week.
According to Stephen Igoe of Hoist The Colours (which is a great team site name, I gotta admit), Powell had been impressive since arriving on campus and might have been a starter for the opener against the Wolfpack, even though he is just a true freshman. So his absence might be significant, assuming he doesn’t get cleared before kickoff.
Harris has played only sparingly up to this point in his career and it’s hard to tell what sort of impact he might have had, if any.
