Week 5 Football: What to watch

A look at games that might pique your interest

NCAA Football: Florida State at North Carolina State Rob Kinnan-USA TODAY Sports

Welcome to another week of football! If you didn’t know, a week of football is infinitely better than a week without football, so please enjoy. You’ll kick yourself later for not doing so.

Only one Thursday night college game this week, and before you dismiss is because it has Navy, just know that Navy has implemented more passing schemes into their triple option attack this year. They’re a decently fun team to watch (when they’re not shit-kicking one of your teams, but I digress). There’s also a Thursday night NFL game, if you’re into that kind of thing.

Friday has four games including the Duke @ VT ACC match-up. This should be a good test. How good is Duke? How much fight does VT really have left under Fuente? In the late game, two of the most overrated teams in the country (Arizona State, California) square off.

The early slate of Saturday games is horrendous, so go do something else and save your energy for later. You need to put out some Weed & Feed on your lawn anyways, so go do that. Don’t let those weeds take over this winter, man. Choke those suckers out!

The mid-day slate of games on Saturday? Oh, man. That’s gold, buddy! Send the wife and kids out and clear your calendar - there’s good football to watch! Involving ACC teams, I’m particularly interested in the UVa @ Notre Dame and Wake @ BC games. In non-ACC games, the USC @ Washington and Iowa State @ Baylor games should be fun.

Your entire focus in the primetime slot should be on our Wolfpack in Tallahassee, but maybe also keep an eye on those two 7:00pm games if you have a spare TV set up. And if you’re looking for some super fun football to feed your insomniac lifestyle, Hawaii @ Nevada should feature little defense and a boatload of scoring. The over/under on that game is 64.5 and that’s about as easy money as you’re ever going to find.

FOOTBALL! GO!
