Don’t say that Dave Doeren isn’t an innovator on the football field. According to the depth chart released for the Western Carolina game, the NC State football team will be sending out starters at 12 positions on defense. I mean, I know the defense looked stout against East Carolina, and now we know why. Running a 4-3-5 hardly seems fair, but I’ll take it.

All joking aside, the defensive depth chart now includes the position of “BUC” linebacker, which features rJR Brock Miller starting with rFR Payton Wilson as his back up and rFR Seth Williams as the third teamer. Redshirt freshman C.J. Hart moves from an “OR” second teamer behind rSO Isiah Moore at MLB to the primary backup to JR Louis Acceus at WLB. Freshman Drake Thomas remains as Moore’s backup at MLB.

Other notes from the depth chart:

  • Redshirt-FR Devin Carter replaces injured rJR C.J. Riley as the starter at the X receiver postiion. Redshirt-FR Jasiah Provillon is second team there.
  • True FR C.J. Clark makes his first appearance on the depth chart as the third teamer at the DT position behind starter rSR Larrell Murchison and rSO Dante Johnson.
