NC State is in the early stages of developing an athletics facilities plan for the next 10-15 years, as well as more immediate improvements for the next five years. The school announced Thursday that it has hired a design firm to spearhead this department-wide project.
All 23 varsity sports will be a part of the plan, though the release specifically mentions Carter-Finley Stadium as a target for upgrades.
Part of the job the design firm has been tasked with:
The EwingCole team will critically analyze the campus by examining existing data, plans and reports, facility walkthroughs, and conducting interviews of University staff and key stakeholders, student-athletes and fans. The team will benchmark these venues against peer institutions and perform a market study to determine current trends in fan amenities.
I am gonna guess that, among other end results, this is going to lead to substantial improvements to the Carter-Finley Stadium concourse, which are long overdue. The ancient concessions need a facelift, and of course the entire east side is in dire need of enhancements.
The release also specifically mentioned “addressing the future of NC State’s baseball facility,” so that might be one of the earlier priorities as well. I sure as heck hope so, anyway. Trea Turner also hopes so.
