As NC State continues to exceed all expectations on the field, it’s getting close to breaking into the top 25. Can’t say I saw this coming a month ago. Or two weeks ago, for that matter.
The Wolfpack is 27 in both of the AP and Coaches’ polls this week—and State definitely would be ranked if the Pac-12 and Big Ten were still on the shelf, but as it is, there are several teams from both leagues that are ranked despite not having played a game.
There are several AP Poll voters who are already onboard with State, putting the Pack in the top 20 on their ballots. Kirk Bohls of the Austin American-Statesman and Ryan Aber of The Oklahoman both have NC State at No. 17, which is State’s highest ranking on any ballot this week. (We’re huge in Big 12 country, apparently.)
There’s a decent chance NC State comes out of next week ranked, assuming of course that the Pack takes care of business against Duke.
