NC State is back at home for the first time in what feels like an eternity, and the Pack also is favored in a game for the first time since the season-opener against Wake Forest. The Wolfpack is an early four-point favorite to defeat Duke, which is 1-4 on the season. The over/under is at 63.5.
The Blue Devils aren’t as bad as that 1-4 mark suggests, they’ve just had all sorts of trouble holding on to the football. Duke has the nation’s worst turnover margin at -11 and the team has somehow managed to turn the ball over 19 times, which is the highest total in FBS. In three of their last four games, the Blue Devils have finished -4—they somehow managed to beat Syracuse this past Saturday despite this.
NC State was finally able to open the takeaway floodgates against Virginia with four forced turnovers—bringing its season total to five—so let’s hope we see it continue against Duke. Starting quarterback Chase Brice has thrown eight picks already this season, including at least one in each of his last four games.
