BTP Pigskin Predictions: Georgia Tech

So how’s this thing gonna go?

NCAA Football: North Carolina State at Georgia Tech Brett Davis-USA TODAY Sports

The devil might have gone down to Georgia, but the Rambling Wreck are riding up to Raleigh for a Saturday afternoon (well, evening, I suppose, given that the sun sets at about 1:50pm these days) showdown with the Wolfpack of NC State. While Georgia Tech might look like a less than formidable opponent on the surface with a 3-5 record, three of those losses have come to Top 25 teams, including losses against national title contenders Clemson and Notre Dame (the other loss was to UCF). The Yellow Jackets offense exploded a week ago in a 56-33 win over Duke, signaling that things might be coming together for Geoff Collins’ group late in the year.

Will Georgia Tech continue their improved play from a week ago to pull off the road upset? Or will NC State eliminate the miscues that have plagued the Wolfpack recently and earn the victory on Senior Day?

Each BTP contributor provides their score prediction below, plus a quick blurb on their predicted outcome. Here we go!

PirateWolf

Prediction: 37-23 (W)

Comment: “GT’s offense explosion vs Duke last week is worrying, but State’s D > Duke’s. Pack slowly pull away and maintain a 2-score lead throughout the 4th Q.“

JEOHankins2

Prediction: 40-28 (W)

Comment: “In a game I flew up for and organized a reunion tailgate State sputtered late to lose to a truly terrible GT team last year in ATL in the freezing cold. If the players on the field felt anything like I did as a fan, this is REVENGE!“

Why is this so hard?

Prediction: 37-33 (W)

Comment: “Shooting oneself in the foot continues to be a concern and keeps Tech in a high-scoring affair, but the Pack finds a way to win.“

AlecLower

Prediction: 42-35 (W)

Comment: “I have a hard time picking an easy win, given State’s recent propensity to side-step those when presented with such an opportunity, but I do think it will win.“

Steven

Prediction: 35-30 (W)

Comment: “Both teams have some serious defensive problems, but Georgia Tech’s run a bit deeper, especially in the secondary, and that’s the difference.“

TheRealEssad

Prediction: 33-24 (W)

Comment: “State has been winning all the games it’s “supposed to win” all year. So they should do the same here but will make us sweat it out“

WROncsu

Prediction: 38-24 (W)

Comment: “GT’s offense gives us some trouble early, but the Pack wins comfortably on senior day.“

no23sports

Prediction: 31-35 (L)

Comment: “Because somebody needs to predict a loss“

BTP Staff Cumulative Prediction: 37-29 (W)
