It looks like Wake Forest has us right where they want us. NC State opened as a modest favorite to beat the Deacs in Raleigh on Saturday, picked as about a field goal favorite at most sportsbooks. State being favored in this matchup sure hasn’t meant much lately.
Wake is coming off a 37-13 home loss to Clemson in which the Deacs were outgained by more than 200 yards. Wake managed just 37 rushing yards against that tough Clemson front, while Sam Hartman was a modest 11-21 throwing the ball.
How much of that was the Wake Forest offense showing some cracks and how much was just the Clemson defense doing its typical thing, well, who knows. The over/under on Wake-State is 56.5, so a good number of points is anticipated.
We’ll see how much of a head start the Deacs have from an execution standpoint now that they’ve played a game. But maybe getting beaten badly by Clemson didn’t help that much—we can hope!
