It wouldn’t be a proper preseason at NC State without some shit news. Veteran Wolfpack linebacker Louis Acceus hasn’t fully recovered from an injury he suffered last season, and has decided to hang up the cleats and move into a coaching role.
“It’s not COVID related, it’s just a continuation of what he’s been dealing with.
“For Louis, the best thing for him was to become a coach. He’s excited about that. He’s been around the guys every day, and he brings great energy to the group. He has tremendous respect from the coaches and his teammates. That’s kind of where it is.”
That really stinks for Louis to have an injury nagging him for so long—I completely understand making the difficult choice to move on from playing. At some point it’s just not worth it to be hurting all the time.
Acceus missed the last four games of 2019 with an injury but even so finished the year fourth on the defense with 50 tackles. It’s tough losing a productive player who’s seen action in more than 30 college games, but NC State can find solace in the fact that the team has good depth at linebacker.
In the depth chart released this afternoon, Isaiah Moore, Payton Wilson, and Drake Thomas/Vi Jones were listed as the starters at LB.
