NC State opens as 10-point underdog to Virginia Tech

NCAA Football: Belk Bowl-Virginia Tech vs Kentucky Jim Dedmon-USA TODAY Sports

Maybe it’s the sugar rush I’m still experiencing after Saturday night, but I was a little surprised to see such a big line in Virginia Tech’s favor for this weekend. I guess the sharps aren’t ready to buy NC State as a good team quite yet. Which is fair, I suppose.

The Wolfpack opened as a 10-point underdog to the Hokies, who have still yet to play a game this season. Virginia Tech and UVA are the only ACC schools yet to play so far, and Tech has had a pair of games postponed. The Hokies had to pause football practice for several days last week because of a coronavirus outbreak.

So I’d say it’s reasonable to wonder how prepared the Hokies will be come kickoff, and whether or not they’ll be shorthanded in places. It’ll be worth keeping an eye on the line this week to see if it moves in NC State’s direction, since we probably won’t hear about any Virginia Tech personnel losses before Saturday.
