Daniel Joseph made his return to NC State in 2021 official with an announcement on Instagram Sunday afternoon, so let the hype for next season begin in earnest. Joseph led NC State with 6.5 sacks in 2020 and will again be a key part of the Wolfpack’s defensive efforts.
Joseph joins Payton Wilson and Emeka Emezie as important pieces who have announced they will be back next season. Joseph finished 2020—his first with the Pack after transferring from Penn State—with 10 tackles for loss, which ranked third on the defense.
That side of the ball has as much potential as it’s had for State since the Bradley Chubb era, and that’s an exciting prospect now that the program has sorted out its issues at quarterback. If they can avoid another plague of injuries, this team should take another step forward on the field.
With luck they’ll have a more typical offseason in which to develop, and let’s hope it’ll be an otherwise quiet one, too.
