Coming off a huge win over Clemson a week ago, NC State remains in Raleigh as the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs come to town. The Wolfpack and Bulldogs have already played a common opponent this year, both falling at Mississippi State, albeit in significantly different fashions. Louisiana Tech led those other Bulldogs by as much as 20 points, before a late collapse led to the loss. NC State, meanwhile, trailed for all but a few seconds of the game against Mississippi State.
This will be the fifth time Skip Holtz has faced off against NC State as a head coach. He matched up versus the Wolfpack three times (2006-2008) as East Carolina’s head coach (he was 1-2 in those games), and was also the opening opponent for the kickoff of the Dave Doeren era, a 40-14 NC State win over Louisiana Tech in 2013.
Will the Wolfpack continue their impressive play from a week ago and score a victory in their final non-conference game of the 2021 regular season? Or will Louisiana Tech catch NC State in a textbook “trap game” and knock the Pack back out of the Top 25?
Each BTP contributor provides their score prediction below, plus a quick blurb on their predicted outcome. Here we go!

Prediction: 45-20 (W)
Comment: “The Pack has put up 45 points against every non-P5 team they’ve faced. Why should this week be different? I also believe that the Pack’s defense will keep LA Tech below their scoring average.“
Why is this so hard?
Prediction: 35-24 (W)
Comment: “Clemson hangover helps spot La. Tech 10 early points, but Pack scores 28 unanswered in the middle quarters and hangs on to win comfortably.“
JEOHankins2
Prediction: 31-21 (W)
Comment: “Actually believe State (defense especially) comes out fired up and the offense puts up points on short fields early. LA Tech gives a scare in the second half getting within a score or so, then the Wolfpack pulls away with along Dunn field goal to cap it off“
Steven
Prediction: 44-17 (W)
Comment: “It’s taking time, understandably, but I think we have to start to relax and trust State’s defense to do its thing.“
SP+
Prediction: 38-14 (W)
Comment: “beep boop, Louisiana Tech’s defense is poop“
Essad
Prediction: 39-13 (W)
Comment: “Pack avoids the trap. Slightly slow start but the run game sets the tone on offense, while the defense holds them until a garbage time TD.“
Alec Lower
Prediction: 38-24 (W)
Comment: “Late touchdown seals a sneaky close one and State starts 4-1 or better for the 7th time in 8 years.“
