NC State slides to No. 25 in Coaches’ Poll, drops from AP Poll

NCAA Football: North Carolina State at Miami Sam Navarro-USA TODAY Sports

It’s a bit of a surprise that NC State managed to hold on to a spot in one of the major polls after its performance on Saturday night, but hey, we’ll take it. The Wolfpack slipped seven spots to No. 25 in the Coaches’ Poll, which is probably a fair penalty for losing a one-point game on the road.

The AP Poll was not so kind, with media voters dropping State from the top 25 entirely. State checks in at No. 28, so it was a 10-spot slide in this one.

Elsewhere in the ACC, Wake Forest moved up to 13th in both polls after posting a basketball score on Saturday. Giving up 56 points to Army and still winning by two scores is impressive, uh, I think. Pittsburgh moved into the top 20 after taking care of business against Clemson but still seems to be getting dinged too much for that Western Michigan loss.

Virginia is in the “also receiving votes” category along with NC State, but that’s it for the league this week.
