Ryan Finley, ‘unsung hero’?

Nah, probably not.

Is Ryan Finley’s NC State career underappreciated? Unsung, even? I would say that it is properly sung, frankly. He had an excellent career and his numbers are good, but seeing as he couldn’t match the breakthrough accomplishments of Philip Rivers or the incredible talent of Russell Wilson, he was never going to be in a category with those guys.

Anyway, here’s a trip down memory lane from the ACC Digital Network.

Fair or not, his legacy will always partly be tied to the fact that those teams couldn’t pull off a marquee win. Of course, it ain’t his fault State didn’t have a kicker who could make a dang chip shot field goal to beat Clemson.

The ACCDN has also recently put together a highlight reel of Mario Williams and a retrospective on the 2002 NC State team. It ain’t much, but I’ll take whatever football content I can get this time of year.
