NC State football picked to finish 2nd in ACC Atlantic Division

Yeah, seems about right.

The preseason ACC football media poll is out, and as usual, Clemson is the heavy favorite to win the league. NC State is picked to finish second behind the Tigers in the Atlantic, and even received one vote to win the league title.

That’s a bold choice, though not as bold as some of the picks out of the Coastal, where Georgia Tech somehow received four votes to win that division. But there will always be some head-scratching results as long as credentialed fan sites have votes.

Overall Champion

Clemson - 125
North Carolina - 16
Miami - 3
Virginia - 1
Georgia Tech - 1
NC State - 1

Atlantic Division (First-place votes in parenthesis)

Clemson – 1,028 (146)
NC State - 804 (1)
Boston College - 638
Florida State - 510
Wake Forest - 472
Louisville - 462
Syracuse - 202

Coastal Division (First-place votes in parenthesis)

North Carolina - 979 (109)
Miami - 881 (28)
Virginia Tech - 582 (3)
Pitt - 576 (1)
Virginia - 540 (2)
Georgia Tech - 340 (4)
Duke - 218

I would flip Wake Forest and Florida State but otherwise that projected order in the Atlantic is as good a guess as any. I don’t know that there’s much difference between BC/FSU/Wake/Louisville, all of which should be capable of getting bowl eligible.
