NC State receives a couple votes in preseason AP Poll

Hey, not bad!

NC State is unranked in both major preseason top 25s, flying under the radar just the way we like it. The Wolfpack received some votes in the Coaches’ Poll released last week, and got a couple from AP voters on Monday.

Those two votes were good for 14 points in the poll, ranking NC State 31st overall. And a spot ahead of Michigan! Who’s the Michigan now, Michigan? (There are other name brand programs that probably should be treated with the same level of skepticism as Michigan, but that’s a different subject.)

Who are our two preseason AP Poll heroes? WRAL’s Lauren Brownlow has NC State at No. 18 on her ballot, making her the biggest Wolfpack optimist among the pollsters. The Pack also checks in at No. 20 on Sam McKewon’s ballot. McKewon writes for the, let’s see here, ... Omaha World-Herald.

I wonder what kind of start it’ll take for NC State to crack the top 25. Does a win in Starkville and a 2-0 start do it? I’m sure the television folks would appreciate State having a number next to its name heading into that Clemson game in Week 4.
