Isaiah Moore and Grant Gibson were also captains last year, while Payton Wilson and Devin Leary have the honor for the first time. As usual, captains were selected with a team vote rather than being appointed by the coaching staff.
Moore and Wilson combined for 202 tackles last season and anchor what should be a major strength for NC State’s deep defense. Leary is a prime candidate for a breakout year after missing most of 2020 with an injury, and Grant Gibson is the pulse of the offensive line as he heads into his third season as a starter. If Gibson plays in every game this fall, including a bowl game, he’ll reach the 50 games played mark in an NC State uniform.
