NC State’s effort against Clemson was far from a clean one, but this is not an indictment of everybody; Emeka Emezie, for example, made plays from the day’s first snap. I think you can safely call this game Emeka’s career-defining performance, because he was always there, always ready despite the various calamities that hit the offense in scoring position.
It was Emezie’s circus catch that salvaged a bad first quarter and helped the Wolfpack on to controlling the majority of the game thereafter. NC State was in desperate need of somebody to make a play, and he delivered.
I can’t tell you how happy I am for Emeka, to set personal records in a game like this, to help deliver such a big win for a program he’s helped build from the start. He’s so talented, and such an even keel, and he’s been there week in, week out. For him to play a major role in a game like this is some Hollywood shit. He didn’t make all the big plays, but he did make a lot of the necessary ones. That’s a standard week for him, with a highlight-reel catch built in there.
