NC State favored by 19.5 points over Louisiana Tech

The Pack has to avoid a letdown.

NCAA Football: Louisiana Tech at Mississippi State Matt Bush-USA TODAY Sports

College football never fails to provide confusing and contradictory information early in the season, and the NC State/Mississippi State/Louisiana Tech results triangle is a good example. NC State looked cooked in Starkville, while Louisiana Tech had a blow a three-score lead there to lose.

Vegas oddsmakers have a succinct way of cutting right through the folly of anybody’s inclination toward the sports transitive property, though. NC State is a 19.5-point favorite to beat Louisiana Tech this week, with the over/under at 55.

The Bulldogs head into Saturday at 2-2 overall, with wins over Southeastern Louisiana and North Texas. The Bulldogs’ defense has been a significant weakness this season, which is why it should be tough for them to stay within shouting distance of the Wolfpack. Louisiana Tech is giving up 33.3 points per game and 6.0 yards per play—Southeastern Louisiana threw for more than 500 yards. Mississippi State and SMU threw for 370 and 395, respectively.

As long as NC State isn’t resting on its laurels after the Clemson win, the Pack should be able to pull away from Louisiana Tech.
