NC State travels to Mississippi State for this week’s game of the week of the year, with the Wolfpack aiming for the sort of win that has eluded it in the past. NC State opened at around a two-point favorite at most sportsbooks, so Vegas is anticipating a tight one.
There is some early money coming in on the Pack, pushing the line to NCSU -3 in some spots.
Mississippi State is coming of a 35-34 win over Louisiana Tech that saw the Bulldogs score 21 unanswered fourth-quarter points in order to stave off the upset. That was an interesting game given that the Pack also plays Louisiana Tech later this year.
MSU averaged 6.6 yards per play, finding the bulk of its success through the air, which is not a surprise for a Mike Leach-coached team. The Bulldogs turned the ball over four times, while its defense allowed nearly six yards per play, which is not so good. You have to like that latter number if you’re Tim Beck and company.
