And so it begins.

With the conclusion of the regular season comes portal announcements—the upcoming transfer window opens next week, and plenty of guys have already decided to move on from their respective schools. NC State had a trio of players make their intentions official Monday: tight end Christopher Toudle, wideout Anthony Smith, and running back Jordan Houston.

All three players were patient in Raleigh, spending multiple years in the program to try and carve out major roles, though with the exception of Houston, that didn’t happen. Houston opted out of this season early in order to preserve his final year of eligibility and his decision to leave has been anticipated ever since.

Toudle did not have a reception this season and ends his State career with 30 receptions for 320 yards and five touchdowns. Smith had only two receptions this year—one against UNC on Saturday—and finishes his State tenure with 13 grabs for 243 yards and three scores. He’ll have two years left, while Toudle and Houston have one.

I wish all three guys the best and hope that wherever they end up, they find the opportunity they’re looking for.
