NC State picked up a big boost this afternoon with Davin Vann’s announcement via Pack Pride that he will be back in Raleigh next season. It’ll be his fifth and final season in college.
Vann will help ease the transition to the post-Payton-Wilson era for the defense, and his productivity and experience will once again help set the tone for that side of the ball. It’s a big deal to get him back for one more season—he’ll be an important leader on next year’s team and I’m sure will don the honorary No. 1 jersey again.
He set career-highs in both tackles (42) and sacks (5.5) in a hybrid role up front. The Pack’s starting defensive line should be pretty good next season with Vann back in the fold, and pending some decisions elsewhere, the defense could be set up nicely. This is a great start.
