NC State introduces Boo Corrigan: ‘I could not be more proud to be here’

NCAA Basketball: Virginia at N.C. State Rob Kinnan-USA TODAY Sports

NC State and Chancellor Randy Woodson officially introduced the school’s next athletics director, Boo Corrigan, on Thursday. Corrigan will take over for Debbie Yow, who is retiring in the spring. The Wolfpacker has video of the whole press conference, and here’s a chunk of it:

Of note, Corrigan says that things moved quickly once NC State reached out to him, which was only about two weeks ago. He had a face-to-face meeting with Woodson that helped cement his decision.

He’s already spoken with both Kevin Keatts and Dave Doeren (Dave’s off recruiting somewhere currently), and he also met with all of the department’s coaches on Wednesday.

I really like what I’ve heard from him so far—I think he’ll observe and absorb as much as he can about the department first rather than crashing in here with a bunch of here’s-how-we’re-gonna-do-it’s. I also appreciated that he mentioned both empathy and the importance of mental health for athletes. Seems like a good dude. He’ll get to work on May 1.
