Fitting that in the final days of Debbie Yow’s tenure as athletics director there is an update to the Director’s Cup standings, which outlines rather precisely what her leadership has accomplished. NC State is 11th in the standings and will finish in the top 25 again this year.
State ranks third in the ACC, behind Notre Dame and Virginia. One spot ahead of Duke and 10 ahead of UNC. Hiring good coaches and investing in the right ways means a lot! NC State is in the bottom third of power-conference schools in revenue, which may never change, but shrewd hiring practices can overcome a lot. That’s Yow’s legacy here.
NC State scored points in women’s hoops, women’s gymnastics, men’s and women’s swimming, and men’s wrestling during the winter season. It has points to add yet from baseball, which is capable of a deep NCAA run despite it’s current super annoying nonsense that is bothering me to no end.
Anyway, it’s been another great year. Congrats all around.
