Former NC State defensive tackle B.J. Hill appears to be ahead of the curve in Giants camp, which is maybe not so surprising to those of us who watched him play over the last four years. Hill, a third-round pick in the draft, has quickly moved his way up the depth chart and at this point appears poised to earn a lot of playing time come fall.
From Dan Schneier of 247Sports.com:
As of the team’s final three-day minicamp, a starting three linemen had emerged with [Dalvin] Tomlinson, [Damon] Harrison, and rookie B.J. Hill taking the vast majority of first-team snaps. Bettcher is excited about the surprising pass-rushing upside both Tomlinson and Hill bring to the table.
The Giants like Hill’s potential to be disruptive in both the ground game and the passing game. It’s that versatility that may make him a significant part of New York’s defensive line rotation once the season starts.
He’ll have to keep impressing once fall camp gets going, but so far so good for the big fella.
