WFT? More like WTF! (Sorry.)
Kelvin Harmon’s return from injury won’t happen in Washington, as he was cut by the team this weekend. Harmon had been getting reps with the third team in camp, and Washington has a good amount of depth at receiver, so his spot was tenuous.
It didn’t help that Harmon tore his ACL right as a new regime was taking over the team. He really could have used a healthy 2020 season to solidify his role with Ron Rivera and the new front office guys, but instead they’ve barely had a glimpse of what he can do.
That was some extra unfortunate timing and under the circumstances it’s not a shock that Washington would opt to move on. It’s a setback, but I’m sure that Harmon will get scooped up pretty quick, and let’s hope he’ll get a decent shot at making the Week 1 roster, too.
He caught 30 passes as a rookie, showing that he’s capable of being a solid contributor off the bench. It’s just tough to come back from a major injury like his that happened before he was able to better establish himself in the league.
