Less than 48 hours before his 2021 debut, former NC State Wolfpack standout Nyheim Hines has agreed to a three-year extension with the Indianapolis Colts. The deal is worth up to $18.6M in total value and the extension years will begin in 2022, keeping him under contract until 2024.
The Colts and RB Nyheim Hines have agreed to a 3-year, $18.6M extension with $12M guaranteed, his agents @ed_waz & @J_App10 tell ESPN.

The $6.2M/year in new money per year makes Hines one of the top 10 highest-paid RBs in the league and ties him to Indy through 2024.
As is the case in the NFL, nothing is binding for the team to honor the contract, which is why guaranteed money is the most important. In that respect, Hines pulled in $12.0M in guaranteed money with the deal. Good for him!
As Field Yates’ tweet points out above, the average annual value of the contract puts Hines in the top 10 of the highest paid running backs in the NFL right now.
Over three season since being a 4th round draft pick of the Colts in 2018, Hines has rushed for 893 yards and 7 TDs at a 4.0 yards/carry average. He’s done most of his damage as a receiver, hauling in 170 passes for 1,227 yards and 6 TDs. He’s also averaged an impressive 14.9 yards/return on 39 punts with 2 TDs.
Congrats, Nyheim!
