NC State picked up an impressive win in Reynolds Coliseum over the Maryland Terrapins on Thursday night. The Wolfpack Women prevailed despite turning the ball over 28 times and finishing with a -11 turnover margin. That’s hard to overcome, especially against a good team. How’d the Pack do it?
Offensively, State maximized its effective possessions (possessions ending with a shot attempt of some sort) by posting a 53.6 eFG% while grabbing over 57% of its missed shots. The Pack absolutely demolished Maryland on the boards and had a decisive edge in shooting percentage.

Maryland shot 9-19 from three but was stymied inside, where it hit only 13 of 46 two-point attempts. That’s 28.3%. Rough going for the Terps, and a bad time for it, too: NC State is one of the best defensive rebounding teams in the country, so second-chance opportunities weren’t going to be frequent.
State got 19 points from Kai Crutchfield, who was 5-8 from three. Center Elissa Cunane added 16 points and also hauled in 15 rebounds.
The Wolfpack Women are 9-0 on the season and should remain unbeaten into the new year.
