There was no drama for the Wolfpack Women this time around, which is how we prefer things around here. NC State never trailed against a bad UVA team and turned the game into a blowout early in the second half. Elissa Cunane led all scorers with 26 points on 8-11 shooting, and she did that in only 25 minutes.

The Wolfpack led by 10 at the break and expanded it to 21 points a little over halfway through the third quarter, putting the Cavaliers to bed early.
UVA did what it could to slow down Cunane by mixing in a good bit of zone—though the Cavs went away from that more in the second half, which was confusing. Cunane scored 10 points during the third quarter as the Pack extended the lead.
Cunane also paced State with 10 rebounds, as the team showed once again why it is one of the best defensive rebounding squads in the country. Virginia managed only a handful of offensive rebounds which wasn’t nearly enough to compensate for its poor shooting from the field.
And NC State shot the ball so well that more effective rebounding by Virginia probably wouldn’t have mattered, anyway.
NC State is one of five remaining unbeaten teams in women’s college basketball and one of three ACC teams undefeated in league play. The Pack travels to UNC on Thursday.
