NC State’s eight-point win at top-ranked South Carolina last week was good enough to move the Wolfpack up four spots to No. 4. Last time I checked, nobody has a win as good as this one on their resume, but then, it’s tough to overcome poll inertia. The Wolfpack Women did receive two first-place votes, though.
Stanford moved into the top spot vacated by the Gamecocks, followed by Louisville at two and UConn at three. UConn, by the way, has yet to play a game this season—and while I have no doubt that the Huskies are very good, maybe they shouldn’t just get to live in the top three without any results?
Oh well, these things ain’t worth getting worked up about, anyway. Keep winning and the rest takes care of itself. There are only two other ACC teams in the latest top 25—the aforementioned Cardinals, and Syracuse, at 20. The Pack’s lone regular season matchup with Louisville is scheduled for Jan. 17.
