NC State did nothing but improve its resume during the ACC tournament, knocking off three NCAA tourney teams on the way to the championship. The Wolfpack has two wins over Louisville now, plus the big non-conference triumph at South Carolina. But is that enough to earn State a No. 1 seed in the NCAAs? That’s still up in the air.
Over at ESPN, Charlie Creme still has NC State as a No. 2 seed after the conference tournaments, behind UConn, Stanford, South Carolina, and Texas A&M. The Aggies didn’t win their conference title, and perhaps that’ll be the difference in the Pack’s favor in the end. UConn and Stanford seem locked into top seeds at this point, with the remaining two not quite so clear.
RealTimeRPI.com has NC State on the top seed line (but that site’s projections feel dubious based on Louisville also being on the top line), as does Matt Ward at CBS Sports. Clearly, it’s gonna be a close thing.
We’ll know for sure tonight at 7 p.m. ET, when the selection show airs.
