Lotta women’s basketball scheduling action today. NC State’s full non-conference slate has been released, and it is the sort of ambitious schedule you’d expect from one of the country’s best teams.
There’s South Carolina, of course. And earlier today NC State announced games against Maryland and Washington State in the Bahamas. Florida, Kansas State, and Georgia also are on the schedule, as well as a yet-to-be-determined ACC/Big Ten Challenge opponent. That makes seven total power-conference opponents out of 11 games.
Maryland finished last season at No. 2 in the Her Hoops Stats Ratings, which are a solid measure of team quality. South Carolina was No. 5, Georgia was No. 23, and I’d imagine the Challenge opponent will be good as well. (A rematch with Indiana, perhaps?)
Rounding out the non-conference are Wofford, Towson, St. Mary’s, and Elon. Eight of the non-conference games are at home, with the Maryland and WSU games at a neutral site, and the B1G/ACC Challenge game on the road.
Schedule strength does not figure to be a problem this season.
